Product Description


Indanterol is a long - acting 2- adrenergic receptor agonist.

Indanterol ACTS as a local bronchodilator in the lung after inhalation. Although beta2-receptors are the major adrenergic receptors in bronchial smooth muscle and beta1-receptors are the major receptors in the heart, there are also beta2-adrenergic receptors in the human heart, accounting for 10% to 50% of the total adrenergic receptors. Although the exact function of these receptors is unknown, their presence suggests the possibility that even highly selective 2-adrenergic agonists may have an effect on the heart.


The pharmacological action of 2-adrenergic agonist drugs, including indanadrol, is at least partially due to the activation of intracellular adenosine cyclase, which catalyzes the conversion of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) to cyclic 3', 5' -adenosine monophosphate (cyclic adenosine monophosphate). Elevated levels of cyclic adenosine phosphate (cAMP) cause relaxation of bronchial smooth muscle. In vitro studies showed that the long acting beta2-adrenergic agonist indanterol was 24 times more agonist than beta1-receptor and 20 times more agonist than beta3-receptor. The clinical significance of these findings is unclear.
